Ahlan Wasahlan to My E-Portfolio

PREFACE

Assalamu'alaikum w.b.t,

Alhamdulillah, I would like to express my gratitude to Allah swt for granting me the chance to be one of the students in this very special course, PSYC 3100 (Lab Based Statistics) this semester, for which I believed has taught me lots of precious lesson. In this class, I learned how to change my attitude towards statistics, as well as how to keep my perseverance in doing statistics. Now I could say, as my attitude towards statistics has changed, my perception on statistics has also changed. I am no longer afraid of numbers, formulas and I believe that what I need is to practice doing statistics many many times. I am sure that I cannot promise myself a solid A for this subject, however to see my marks increase from one test to another test is more than enough.

Special thanks to my honourable and dedicated lecturer, Asst.Prof. Dr.Harris Shah Abdul Hamid for your passion and patient in teaching us. May Allah grant you the greatest reward, ameen. To my fellow classmates who are currently reading this, AHLAN WASAHLAN to everyone! May Allah shows us upon His path, ameen.

INTRODUCTION
In this e-portfolio, I decided to use two scales, which are;

i) The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support

ii) The Emotional Contagion Scale
Doherty, R. W.  (1997). The Emotional contagion scale: A measure of individual differences.  Journal of Nonverbal Behavior, 21, pp. 131-154.

There were 20 sets of questionnaire consist of both scales which were distributed to 20 respondents, who were all Psychology students of IIUM. The scores were then recorded in SPSS.

In this e-portfolio, as listed in the course outline, there will be eight dimensions of SPSS skills that will be assessed, which are:
  1. Data Entry
  2. Transform
  3. Recode
  4. Naming of Variable
  5. Variables
  6. Data Screening
  7. Normal Distribution of Data
  8. Presentation
