Data Entry

For data entry, the questionnaires were distributed to 20 respondents in the form of hard copies.

Respondents were asked to answer all items, and for the second scale, respondents were asked to write the alphabet that represents the answers such as :
  • A : Always true for me
  • O : Often true for me
  • R : Rarely true for me
  • N : Never true for me
Some of the weaknesses of using hard copies for questionnaires is, if there is error in key in the data, I have to recheck manually which requires lots of times. At first, the questionnaires were unlabelled. As as consequences, once I detected that there is mistakes while doing data entry, I have to recheck by looking at the questionnaire papers one by one, and to match with the answer of each item all over again. Therefore, after redo the data entry, I decided to label the questionnaires papers as "ID: 1" to "ID:20" .

In SPSS, it is easier to insert the data for demographic variables first before inserting the score for the items. Therefore, I firstly inserted the data for variables AGE, SEX, MOB (Month of Birth) and YOB (Year of Birth)

After completed the data entry for demographic variables, then only the score of each items for each ID (respondents) were inserted. It is shown in the screen shot that there are only 20 cases used in SPSS data view, which represent 20 respondents.
